Paragraph on APJ Abdul Kalam for Madhyamik 2025:
Ans. APJ Abdul Kalam is an Indian scientist. He is a politician also. He served his country as president from 2002 to 2007. Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam was born into a Muslim family. Kalam was a bright student. Kalam earned a degree in Aeronautical Engineering from the Madras Institute of Technology. In 1958 he joined the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
He soon moved to the Indian Space Research Organisation. Kalam was a key figure in the May 1998 Pokhran-II tests, in which five nuclear devices were detonated in the Rajasthan Desert. Although the tests resulted in condemnation and economic sanctions from other world powers, Kalam was hailed as a national hero for his staunch defence of the country’s security.
He remained unmarried. Kalam was born to Jainulabiddin Marakayar(Imam) and Ashiamma Jainulabiddin (Housewife). He had three brothers, named Kasim Mohammed, Mohammed Muthu Meera Lebbai Maraikayar, and Mustafa Kamal and one eldest sister Asim Zohra.
Kalam, the missile man of India, wrote several books, including an autobiography, Wings of Fire (1999). Among his numerous awards were two of the country’s highest honours, the Padma Vibhushan (1990) and the Bharat Ratna (1997).
On July 27, 2015, Kalam suffered a massive heart attack while lecturing at the Indian Institute of Management and subsequently died at the age of 83.
